Pawling Chamber of Commerce

Community Resources & Service Center

Now in its 31st year, the Community Resources & Service Center, Inc. provides direct services to the Pawling community that include transportation to medical appointments and food shopping, a food pantry, the loan of medical equipment, and assistance with income tax and Medicare forms. Located in a quaint carriage house on the grounds of the historic John Kane property, the Resource Center is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization which charges no fees for any of its services and relies entirely on grants and charitable gifts to fund the programs that benefit hundreds of local residents each year.

A major component is the transportation program, comprised of requests from individuals most of which are senior citizens, for transportation to medical appointments at area hospitals, doctors’ offices and other medical facilities. This service to the community has grown to number 604 trips in 2006, with volunteers also providing Saturday rides to Hannaford Supermarket south of the Village.

The Resources Center serves individuals and families who live, work or worship in Pawling. Over the last three years, more than forty families per month have benefited from the food pantry, and at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, food baskets and special gifts are donated for those less fortunate in the community. Volunteers are the core of the organization and are recruited year-round to assist with the various program activities.
