Pawling Elementary School consists of grades K-4. The primary school goals are the
all around development of each student academically, socially and emotionally and
the creation of a successful and safe school environment.
Pawling Elementary has a strong commitment to fundamentals and small class sizes.
Our program provides emphasis on basic skills, writing and study habits but is designed
to extend learning beyond the grade level at every age. The teaching staff is dedicated
to meeting the needs of our students. Our enrichment program provides challenges
and rewards for students who wish to excel.
An active PTA supplements the regular program with a variety of instructionally
related field trips, cultural presentations and visiting artists.
A full array of specials is provided for all grade levels. Computer technology is
available in the computer lab where elementary students learn basic word processing
skills. Networked computers are also available in all grade three and four classrooms.
Art, music, and physical education classes are a regular part of every school week.
The music program includes general music, and chorus in grades three and four. Students
have lessons in library skills and make visiting the elementary school library a
regular part of their school day.
A comprehensive program of special help is available in reading and math for both
remedial (academic intervention services) and preventive purposes. In addition,
special education services complement the regular program when indicated.
