Lakes and Rivers

There are lots of local lakes and rivers for those who enjoy boating, canoeing, fishing and kayaking. April often brings rain, swelling lakes, ponds and streams. One group that sees that as a good thing is kayakers. As the chill recedes from the air, kayakers start looking for calm waters- or challenging rapids. The visitor or resident can canoe in the Great Swamp, or join a group outing led by an expert provided by one of the area’s several environmental organizations. Fishing and birding are other popular activities. Fly fishing lessons and trips can be arranged by the Angler’s Den and kayaking through Pawling Cycle & Sports.
