Dutcher Golf Course
(845) 855-9845
The 9-hole Dutcher Golf Course, located in the Village of Pawling, is the oldest municipally owned golf course in America. The course features 2,319 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 34. Designed by John Bowdish Dutcher, who owned the Dutcher House Hotel, the Dutcher Golf Course opened in 1890.
The Quaker Hill Country Club (private) was founded by legendary radio commentator and adventurer, Lowell Thomas. The scenic 9-hole course overlooking the Harlem Valley, was designed by famed golf architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. with an extra set of tees for those wishing to play 18 holes. Lowell Thomas himself drove the first ball at the club opening in 1941.
The club prides itself not only on its excellent and well-maintained golf course, but on its traditions (especially The Barn, its unique 19th century converted barn clubhouse with the "History of Civilization" fireplace, the "Nine Old Men's Room" and the Studio Museum from which Lowell Thomas made many broadcasts and is now filled with memorabilia). It is also known for its informality (including no golf starting times), its diverse membership and its affordability.
